Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti
Guru Gobind Singh Ji was the 10th & the final Guru of Sikhs; as per Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s command holy book of Guru Granth Sahib is considered as the Guru of Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh Ji was the supreme spiritual leader, a great warrior & philosopher. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is celebrated as the birth anniversary of beloved Guru Gobind Singh; although the birth date is 22nd December 1666 Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is celebrated on the 7th bright moon day of the Paush month in Hindu calendar, Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti falls in the months of December & January in Georgian calendar. Special prayers are offered in the common households & Gurudwara; langars are being organized on a large scale. Processions are carried out which by the means of glimpse stage spread the words & teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He has a notable contributions to Sikhism are founding the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa in 1699. And also introducing the Five Ks, the five articles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times.
Guru Govind Singh History
Govind Singh was the only son of Guru Tegh Bahadur (9th Sikh Guru) and Mata Gujri. He was born in Patna, Bihar in Sodhi Khatri family while his father was visiting Bengal and Assam. His father gave his life to protect religious freedom.
