Navratri Pooja Celebration


Navdurga is the nine forms of Hindu Goddess Durga. These nine forms of Goddess Durga is known as Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. During Navratri Celebration, these nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. The best thing is that each Goddess has their own governing planet, mount, planet, and iconography. In whole year Navratri celebration is conducted 4 times i.e. Chaitra Navratri, Sharad Navratri, Magha Gupta Navratri and Ashadha Gupta Navratri. Navratri celebration is celebrated as a festival in whole India. Now here we provide some details of all Goddess Durga Avatar.

Nine Natures of Goddess Durga Worshiped During Navratri


  • 1st Day of Navratri Celebration: - 1st day of Navratri Celebration is dedicated to Goddess Shailputri. Meaning of Shailputri is the daughter (Putri) of the mountains (shaila). This day is also for yellow color because yellow color indicates the color of Planet Sun.

1-Maa-Shailputri
  • 2nd Day of Navratri Celebration: -  2nd Day of Navratri Celebration is dedicated to Goddess Brahmcharini. Goddess Brahmcharini practices devouts austerity. This day Green color is preferred. Green color indicates soothing, harmony and fertility and also planet Venus planet.

2-Maa-Brahmcharini
  • 3rd Day of Navratri Celebration: - 3rd day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Chandraghanta. This form of Goddess Durga is worshipped for peace, tranquility, and prosperity in life. She has a half moon (Chandra) in her forehead in shape of a bell (ghanta), that's why she is known by the name of Chandra Ghanta. 3rd day of Navratri celebration is of Grey color which indicates Saturn Planet. 

3-Maa-Chandraghanta
  • 4th day of Navratri Celebration: - 4th day of Navratri celebration is dedicated to the 4th form of Goddess Durga i.e. Goddess Kushmanda. Goddess Kushmanda is the creator of the universe and worshipped on the 4th day of Navratri celebration. The Orange color is preferred on the 4th day of Navratri celebration because it indicates Jupiter.

4-Devi-Kushmanda
  • 5th Day of Navratri Celebration: - 5th Day of Navratri celebration is dedicated to Goddess Skanda Mata, it is also known as Mother Durga. The word Skanda Mata means mother of Skanda which is also known as Lord Kartikeya. The White color is preferred on the fifth day of Navratri celebration. This color indicates Moon.

5-Devi-Skanda-Mata
  • 6th Day of Navratri Celebration: - 6th Day of Navratri celebration is dedicated to Goddess Katyani. The red color is preferred to wear on that day and it indicates Mars Planet.

6-Katyayani
  • 7th Day of Navratri Celebration: - 7th day of Navratri celebration is dedicated to Goddess KalRatri, she is the 7th form of Goddess Durga. She has a dark complexion. The blue color is preferred on that day and it indicates Uranus planet. 

7-Devi-Kalaratri
  • 8th Day of Navratri Celebration: - 8th day of Navratri celebration is dedicated to Maha Gauri, which means extremely white. This form of Goddess Durga is intelligent, peaceful and calm. The pink color is preferred to wear on the 8th day of Navratri celebration, which indicates Mercury Planet.

8-Devi-Mahagauri
  • 9th Day of Navratri Celebration: - 9th Day of Navratri celebration is dedicated to the 9th form of Goddess Durga i.e. Goddess Siddhidatri. This form of Goddess Durga has supernatural healing powers and also blesses saints, all gods, tantric and devotees. The purple color is preferred on the 9th day of Navratri celebration, it indicates Neptune Planet.
